Welcome
Collegiality derives from the Latin term collegium, which is defined in the American Heritage Dictionary as follows: A group whose members pursue shared goals while working within a framework of mutual trust and respect: “This standing firm … enables the college to be a community, a collegium of students and faculty working at common problems and possibilities” (Robert A. Spivey). The benefits to be derived from collegial behavior are the learning of new knowledge, the sharing of knowledge among colleagues, and the creation of new knowledge.
