Men’s hoops wins Paradise Jam title

Posted by The Baylor Proud Team in : Athletics, Honors , trackback

Curtis Jerrells 2007-08Head coach Scott Drew’s Baylor men’s basketball team purposely put together a tougher non-conference schedule this year to prepare the team for Big 12 play, and the squad is proving up to the challenge.

Over the past three days, the men defeated Wichita State, Notre Dame and Winthrop to win the Paradise Jam championship. Notre Dame and Winthrop were each NCAA Tournament teams last year, and Wichita State has made the postseason four times in the past five years.

Tournament MVP (and Big 12 Player of the Week) Curtis Jerrells averaged 17.7 points and 7 rebounds over the three games and hit several big shots late in games. Senior Aaron Bruce was also named to the all-tournament team.

The Bears are now 4-0 on the season and are again receiving votes in the latest AP Top 25 poll.

Sic ’em, men’s basketball!
